Question Question regarding sunroof installation

Hi all,
I've been fairly inactive during the last years, as I do not own a Jaguar any more. A few weeks ago I helped a friend, who had parked his X300 on my premises, to remove the sunroof panel because it had to be repainted (faded paint).
To help him out, I picked up the panel at the paintshop when it was done and went on to reinstall it in the car. That all went fine until I reinstalled the inner headliner-panel. When operating the sunroof for the first time, I heard a fairly loud "plong" sound and knew immediateley that something went wrong. A plastic piece operating the thin rear part of the headliner panel ( the one which keeps level when you tilt the sunroof) broke on the right hand (passenger for LHD) side. I do not know why this happened, either I made a mistake or it was due to the low ambient temperature or to the brittleness of the plastic, anyway, it's broken. I tried to fix it by glueing, that did not work due to the strong spring load forcing this part upwards.
If anyone knows how this mechanism is assembled correctly, please have look at the pictures attached.

Looking at the pic showing the left side still intact, is the lever at #1 inserted correctly in the plastic hole? This is where it is broken on the right side. Is it correct that spring #2 pulling #1 upwards? Peg #3 guides the headliner panel.

It would be possible to remove the broken plastic part from the sunroof tracks rearwards after lowering the headliner, but I doubt that this thingie would be available separateley.
Ideas anyone how to fix this?
Thanks for any input, kindest regards from Germany
Stefan

Hi everybody,
just saw the other thread about 3D-printing sunroof parts, that answered all my questions.
Thanks and enjoy your cars
Stefan

Hi Genetic_Billionaire and James,

thanks for letting me know. I will check this out! At the moment my temporary fix is working well, knock on wood.
I assume that the headliner has to be removed to replace this part, cause it seems that it has to slide out of the sunroof rails towards the back of the car.
Thanks
Stefan

The part was available from Jaguar classic parts last year. Bizarrely, they dont show it as a separate part on the diagram, but try a search using the part number. Wasnt too expensive as I recollect, and you can remove the old one by un fastening the roof lining and pulling it down a bit. No need to remove it completely.
