When i got my car 5 years ago, i swapped the cd change and casette player for an MP3 player and thought the sound system (non HK) was pretty good. Now that my car has been off the road for a few weeks for the diff rebuild, i have been using mums polo and the sound system is noticably better so i want to upgrade the speakers in the Jag.

I understand the door speakers are a strange size so where is best to get some the right size? Also what options do i have for a subwoofer?

 

The door speakers are 5.25 inches in diameter (I'm pretty sure that's the size). It's not that difficult to fit some new ones. I did because the old ones were cracked. You can find some new speakers from almost anywhere. I knew of a good website, but sadly, I've forgotten.

As for a sub, I have no idea.

 

i have polk 6.5in speakers in the door (they fit fine using the stock holes). i also recently changed my tweeters to 1in polks with just a little modification to the stock tweeter locations. I also have a 8 inch sub (http://www.crutchfield.com/s_130SW84...neer+TS-SW841D) that i managed to fit in the hole that was for the optional 6X9 sub in the rear shelf. I just used a dremel tool to widen the hole for the 8in sub. the hole is right above the gas tank which gives pretty solid bass even running free air (without a box). There is some pics of it on the second page of this thread:https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...t=38766&page=2 I love this set up as it does not take up any trunk space and cannot be seen but sounds very good (keeps it classy IMO). I ordered all my gear through crutchfield as they have really good support. I would check on http://www.sonicelectronix.com/ tho cause the prices are usually lower and then just have crutchfield price match as crutchfield gives you all the instructions and any wire harnesses you may need (if they have one) for free.

Did all jags come with the 6x9? right below the rear window shelf?? I have a VDP. Someone please write back.

 

No the premium sound was an option. Mine did not have premium sound. Yet it still had the hole for the 6x9 sub (covered by metal and filled with foam). You should be able to pull back the carpet of the left side of the trunck and look right above the gas tank and see either the foam or sub.

Nice setup Pancho. How are those slappin in the car? I only got 1 12'..I didn't want to get much rattle in the trunk but the 12 doesn't really hit hard through the metal frame which is slightly disappointing. I do have nice crisp sound with some thump though.
