I took off my sunroof to paint it and have the headliner redone. The upholstery piece slid out like butter. This was last summer. Since then have completed painting and fabric repair. Now I can't get the headliner piece to slide back in like butter. Also the sunroof will only pop up, will not retract backwards, and the spring arms keep popping out of the retainer holes. What have I done!

 

If you covered the sliding roof interior panel with any fabric thicker than 3mm it will bind in the mechanism.

Make sure that the sliding roof module is still timed correctly.
