wing mirror wiring
Greetings
I have a 1995 sovereign (VPD) and annoyingly I need to replace the wing mirror. It was the car wash 😢
Having had a look I've got a 9 wire connection but all the ones on sale I can see have a different colour wires. I've got a the grey wire, others have it yellow and a brown wire instead of a red/black. See attachments.
Does this matter?
Many Thanks
Mark

The cover to the mirror ( chrome ) is swappable with a non - crome miiror but there is a trick to the cover attachment
I think it is a heated mirror option
See page X for the 95 and page Y for the 96 which is a more completed wiring diagram
The factory practice is to have the fully option harness / wires on the car side with the option missing on the option item , you would expect that the connectors are the same missing option wires
For the 95 page 137 RHD model

and for the 96 page 150

Your heaters would be Brown / Red and Black ground for both sides of the mirror connector colored wires on the both left and right car sides reference section 12.3

Excellent info, thanks. Definitely bookmarking these electrical diagrams.
So it looks like the mirrors I've seen for sale come from the X308 going by the yellow wire on the plug. Hopefully it should be ok.
Cheers

Between the X300 series and the redesigned X308 there was a lot of connector changes so would have to look very closely
I would imagine the mirror body and mounting itself is an exact fit

they are the same mirror. the mirror itself ill def fit.
looking at the wires and connectors it does look as though it will be plug and play.
however worse case scenario when you plug it in it does not function correctly and you can look to swap some pins around and put the right wires in the right place.

Good point swapping pins. I was thinking I might have to cut and solder.
Just got to find a reasonably priced unit now.
PS are the electric mirrors heated? Doesn't really matter, just curious.
Thanks

the wiring should be in place for the heated glass (controlled with heated rear window) however most will not have the heated glass.
I just very recently purchased some new mirror glass, wide angle + heated (wide angle gives that extra bit of vision to help reduce blind spot) and fitted them to my existing mirrors that were non heated.
the plugs were there in the mirror and it was just plug and play.
hense the 9 pins on the plug.
7 to control the mirror and 2 for the heat.

Got a replacement mirror shell from a year 2000 x308, with the different coloured wires.
Swapped over glass, motor and cover, re-fitted and it all works.
Also found out the mirrors are heated though have to wait for the winter to see if they work.
Thanks for all your help.

just wanting to double check that the mirrors are indeed heated glass. you definatelt need to check the glass.
i had non heated glass originally but they still had pins on the back and were connected. (not sure why, i think it might be to ensure the wires do not get in the way of the mirror movement.)
the back of the glass was just black.
where as on the heated replacements i purchased you could see the heating element.
also you should not need to wait till winter, if you turn the heated rear window on and wait a little bit after a few minutes you should be able to touch the glass and feel it has warmed up.
