Default Wiper function: only certain modes work ( 1997 XJ6 )

I have just received a 1997 XJ6, and have been working on fixing it up. The wiper function is tricking me up. The (D) drive mode (activated by pushing down) works, but this is insufficient for the amount of rain in my area. The spray and wipe function also works. Where as the 1) single wipe function 2) slow speed 3) fast speed all do not work. The air/bolt doesn’t turn. Please help! Thankyou

There are large 2 relays for the wipers labeled LNA 6707 or abouts that can be swapped with a headlight , fog , or A / C of the same LNA #

The large relays can be stuck in their sockets by a waterproofing seal that can be loosened up with penetrating spray as you unclip them be either sliding up or down and spraying into the seam between the relay and the base / sockets

There have been reports of the wire ends soldered to the multifunction switch coming off and a simple job of just resoldering and also of the wires rubbing in the steering column

There are a couple of fuses involved on strictly the wiper system

There is also some lubing you can do to free up works and a park switch of a very defined contact button throw
