Default XJ6 1997 - cutting out

Having trouble with jag 3-2 1997 keeps cutting out when slowing down to a halt any ideas b4 i take it to garage

Hi mate welcome to the forum this can be a number of problems from plugs coil packs an sensors best thing to do is get it pluged in. does the check engine light come on before it stalls ?

It could also be that the throttle body needs cleaning.

I did the sparkplugs and cleaned the TB the first time I had this issue. It came back recently & 5 minutes with a rag and some carb cleaner did the job! :-)

yes the light does come on

Do you have access to an OBDII scanner? Knowing the trouble code would be helpful in diagnosing the problem. If you don't have one, go to your local Autozone or other parts store and they will usually scan it for you for free.

EDIT: Whoops, just noticed you were back in Blighty, still I would try a parts shop and see if they'll do it.

I had mine pluged in with the same fault an it was the throttle position sensor but this may not be the case with yours you need to get it plugged in an google the codes
