Anyone have a procedure for removing the intake manifold on an XJR? I have to replace the coolant bypass hose and this is the only way to get to the clamps. It has the factory crimp on clamps still on it and I need access to cut them off.

How can I get to the throttle body plate without the intake off?

It's my misunderstanding of the system is all. Oddly enough I replaced the timing chains, exhaust manifolds and auxiliary drive shaft, but I've never done anything on the induction side.

So here I am, two hours of labor and I have that stupid coolant bypass hose removed.

1. Remove MAF
2. Remove air ducting
3. Remove both metal air duct connectors (one on the SC one on the intercooler)
5. Remove four bolts for the supercharger
6. Disconnect the fuel lines
7. Disconnect fuel injector electrical connectors
8. Unbolt fuel injector wiring rail and secure it out of the way
9. Remove dipstick to intercooler bolt
10. Remove intercooler stand off bolt
11. Remove the intake runner bolts (this is a fun one)
12. Lift manifold and supercharger up and out of the way
13. Remove supercharger to engine block bracket
14. Remove thermostat housing
15. Remove coolant bypass hose

I'm still waiting for the parts so more pictures to follow when I get it buttoned up. The bypass hose is completely split, there is also a hole in the lower radiator hose so I'll have to try and source that tomorrow. It's clearly specific to the XJR.

make sure to clean every bit of crud off the bypass hose connections. I neglected to, and guess what I had to do... again

Will do! I had just finished the timing chains so the pump side is clean I just have to clean the other end. And it looks like I've finally sourced a new lower radiator hose here in the states should have that on Friday.

For anyone wondering the "heated" version of the lower radiator hose for the XJR is no longer available here in the US.

While you're at it, you might want to clean out the water rail pipe and replace the gaskets as they eventually go.

Thanks I'll have them add those to the order!
