I purchased a front lower bumper spoiler on Ebay from a 2000 XJ8 thinking it would fit my 2001 XJR only to find it has three tabs for conection where mine has six. What is the difference and where can I get one?

I have no idea what you're talking about, but would've thought they'd be exactly the same through the years.

here are some photos of the underside of my bumper as you can see I have 6 posts which it appears something attaches to them this boiler I bought only has three posts so it certainly isn't the right one my question is what goes on these posts?

 

The 'posts' on the Front Bumper (item 11) are the attachment points for the black plastic Undertray (item 19):




The Undertray has two functions:

1. strengthens the Front Bumper by making it a box section
2. restricts airflow under the bumper forcing more air through the radiator and assisting cooling

Here is a picture of the spoiler I bought. I assume it attaches to the undertray.

 

it is the item number 16 in the pic above provided by Graham, it's not a spoiler.

 

What is it then and does it attach to the bottom of the Undertray?

 

it's a lower grill blade. your car already has it.

Item 16 is described as a Radiator Grille Vane in the Parts Catalogue and is available in Chrome or Primer.
