Default 98 XJ8 Timing cover gasket

Apparently the oil dripping from my engine on the 1998 XJ8 is coming from the timing cover gasket. Is 6 hours labor for the garage realistic, has anyone done one at home, is it very difficult orcan patience prevail?
Thanks,
Michigan.

If you are going to remove the timing chain cover, I recommend this is a good time to replace the tensioners.

The crank bolt is very tight. I mean stupid tight! It can be done at home. I too recommend looking at a chain kit.

Yep.....chains, tensioners, guides.....the whole shabang.
Unless you remove radiator, probably will need torches to get the bolt out of damper.
With radiator out though, impact will get it out. 6 hours for timing cover removal is about right.
Good luck.

Thanks for the input, please bear in mind that;
1, I'm a Brit living in Michigan
2, LA is a long way from Michigan
3, Everyone in LA think all Brits speak like Beckham and Posh
4, LA Galaxy is actually a pub team
