I use NGK Irridiums in all my cars. Cheap, reliable and long lasting. Amazon is actually a good place to get plugs, whatever you choose. Plugs can be as volitle a topic as gas, oil, women and politics... everybody thinks their choice is the best but when it comes down to it your choice is all that matters.
victor, I don't have an xjr, but I do have a 99xj8 and I replaced mine with NGK Iridium plugs(BKR5EIX-11) from sparkplugs.com. They seem to be doing great. My observations lead me to believe that the iridiums or even the newer pulse type plugs are replacing the +2 & +4 plugs. The pulse plugs are pretty new, and I didn't feel comfortable using them. The iridium plugs are a little more than the +2 or +4 if I remember correctly, but still a lot cheaper than $25. Good luck.

Correction: I actually purchased at Auto Zone or Advance Auto after researching at sparkplugs.com

I used an Autolite Spark Plug that was cheap. Part number APP 3924.
Car runs and starts just fine even in the freezing cold Michigan and Wisconsin weather.
It's double platinum so it might not last 100,000 miles like the originals. I think the factory plugs were triple platinum.

There's lots of dirty little secrets in the spark plug business. One of them is that it doesn't make any difference whatsoever in performance which brand or type is used, as long as the correct config and heat range is chosen.
Hyper-zoomy-quadruple-ultra-unobtaniums work no differently than bog standard flint on steel when it comes to lighting the fire. Don't be fooled by marketing crap.
Having said that, plug durability is an area where the materials used do make a difference. OEMs were required to produce vehicles that would go XX miles between 'tune ups' and stay within pollution limits. The platinum or iridium plugs are capable of doing that, conventional plugs maybe not.
I'd sooner change a plug once and have it last 100K than change plugs 5 times that only last 20K.
Do a search on the internet using the recommended plug part number, usually they can be found for a fraction of what a dealer wants to sell them for.

Manufacturers quite willingly publish equivalents to OEM spec in order to try to win some aftermarket share. No one reads them.

Hi
First I have to say that Advance Auto Parts (one of the forums sponsors)
have the greatest promo discounts.
I bought NGR spark plugs for our 2001 XJ8 this afternoon. The NGR stock number is 3764 (part# BKR6EIX-11), these are the Iridium IX type.
Advanced Auto Parts price was $6.99 each and totaled $55.92 (for 8 of them) plus sales tax.
I found this promo code (A123) that gives you $20 discount on $50 purchases. I ended up with paying $35.92 plus $2.16 sales tax. That is a total of $4.76 per spark plug. I am on my way to pick them up at the local retail store.
I also used this promo code on a separate order for a bosch oil filter (72209) $8.99 and a Actron Pocket Scan Code Reader (CP9125) that was $59.99 just lowered to $49.99. This totaled $58.98 less $20.00 promo discount on $50 purchases. Total paid was $41.32 with sales tax.
Total savings for the two orders was $40.00. That is almost a 35% discount.
