99 xj8 Loud Rattle
I have a 99 jaguar XJ ei gotta exchange 8 it has loud rattle coming from underneath the driver's side somewhere near the back door/tire/muffler area. It only happens when accelerating and stops. Continues to rattle as I accelerate more and seems to last longer as it gets higher in gear. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Hi JDys,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.
I have moved your post from the forum for the X100 to the forum for the X308, which is the Jaguar factory project code for your 1999 XJ8. Here you will find knowledgeable owners of similar cars.
There are not a lot of components that can rattle in the area you describe, so if you can raise and support the vehicle and inspect the undercarriage you should be able to determine whether the issue is with the exhaust, the transmission mount, the driveshaft center bearing, differential, rear axle or some other component. Other members may offer additional thoughts.
Please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST and post a required introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.
Cheers,
Don
Welcome JDys, we'd love to assist, but as Don states, we need more info. Please take note, your dealing with a 20+ yr old vehicle and unknown PO's (previous owner's) driving habits and maintenance, or lack thereof.
You may want to review this to have an idea of the center bearing and what to look for that Don describes...https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...g-info-188400/
After that the only thing I could add to Don's statement is to please add your location in the User CP, top left task bar and follow the drop down. If your in a snowy salted area vs a sunny dry climate, resulting issues will vary.
Also, different regions have different model options to deal with.

My first guess would be your exhaust system to the muffler. If your exhaust is damaged or a support has
dislodged, it’s possible that it could make a rattling sound during operation (particularly noticeable while accelerating).
