Blowby 1999 xj8
Hello
my 1999 xj8 has engine coolant low warning on. The coolant is all top up and i replaced the sensor as well for the coolant. The message is still on inside for the warning with red light Another thing, Its been siting in garage for more than 2 years. I just drive it for 3 days and noticed engine blow by. Air filter is sucking the oil from crankshaft engine valve cover and throwing it to the throttle body.
Thats what i figured out by showing it to my friend who is entry level mechanic.
Now i need some expert advice and assistance to keep it going.
I came across different options for fixing the blowby. Few includes installing oil catch can, pouring some atf to spark plugs to tighten the pistons ring and switching to regular oil for keeping the walls lubricated.
any inputs ? Advices

Not sure if conventional v synthetic does anything but a heavier weight oil might damage the bearings. These engines were built with tight oil flow tolerances. Atf is often used for startups after sitting but only a temporary fix that may alter the oil's lubrication. An oil trap can work if your engine isn't worn enough to be down on power but again its a stopgap.
I would check the part load breather first. If that's clear get the engine up to temperature and take the oil cap off while running. If gasses come shooting out you got blowby.
Unfortunately if you have enough wear that your engine is throwing oil into your air filter you may just need a rebuild. However have you checked the part load breather hose on the left valve cover? Often the nozzle can become clogged with carbon causing oil to leak out of the large breather hose into the air intake.

thanks for your input. I want to add more here. The engine is just 93k. How come its worn out so soon. The oil is coming out from the valve cover where it connects to the air filter hose leading to throttle body. Thats only suppose to send out hot air, not the oil. Thats what i think but im totally new to jaguar. I will check part load breather hose. I havent done it so far.
I appreciate the input.

Remove the cam cover(s) and inspect the timing chains, guides and tensioners to see if the secondary tensioners are the metal-bodied version, or plastic. If the timing chain tensioners are still the original plastic version, the primary and secondary timing chains, guides and tensioners must be replaced as soon as possible to avoid catastrophic engine damage if one of the secondary tensioners fails.
With the cam covers removed, rotate the engine in a clock direction when viewed from the front, using the 24mm crankshaft pulley bolt. DO NOT rotate the engine anti-clock or damage to the main and rod bearings is the result. Rotate the engine to determine if the inlet and exhaust cams are correctly timed with the flat areas near the front of the camshafts parallel to each other.
Make this inspection prior to attempting any other repairs or parts replacements and report back.
