Default Call me pedantic but,

Can someone give me some tips on how to color this cell phone mount's foam/silicone/rubber(grey) area black ?! Lol it's my favorite holder, but the grey is driving my batty in my XJ8 lol. I've already attempted to RIT dye it to no avail it won't even penetrate. Any kind of paint that will adhere & not flake easily or become tacky & rub off on my device.

Thanks in advance.

Shoe polish - get it on something and it never comes off!

Charles,

If the material really is silicone, I don't know of anything that will stick reliably. But if it's made of another type of rubber or plastic, try Forever Black:

I use it on black rubber trim and other parts, and I even used it on the steering wheel vinyl airbag cover in our '93:

Forever black comes in different sizes, but I prefer the small size with a foam shoe-polish style applicator (speaking of shoe polish). To re-color something that isn't black to begin with, you'll have to apply multiple thin coats. Heavy coats run and streak, but if you're patient, the results will be good.

Cheers,

Don
