I will have to remove the (drivers side front) door panel to replace my annoying check strap (that dosn't check).
On my X300 the wood trim panel had to be removed due to a retaining screw underneath. I know I will have to remove the door handle escutcheon screw and the door armrest screw. Does the door panel just unclip around the edges after this, or will I have to remove the wood trim as well.
On inspection and looking at the JDHT schematic it appears that the panel is one piece, rather than two separate pieces as in the X300.
Any tips welcome, including how not to mash the plastic strap covers when removing to get to the screws.

You'll need to remove a wood trim.
Gently pull the rear end of the wooden trim to let it come out of the clips and slide the trim backwards.
The panel is one piece.
Don't forget to remove the screw from the door handle.
