Good afternoon, I have a 02 XJR with codes read from a obdII scanner that come up as P1642 and P1646. The code P1646 is for the fuel pump relay from what I gather. The car itself seems to run okay beyond the fact the gas mileage has gone done a couple of miles per Gallon. Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

 

Did a quick search for you, here is what came up. Check out all threads, even just briefly...and the XK8/XKR shares the same engine, so you'll find some good info there also.

Pretty sure that P1646 on an '02 model is an O2 sensor, A-bank, upstream. From the Jaguar docs P1642 is a CAN-bus malfunction, I would suggest you make sure your scanner isn't mucking up the CAN-bus and giving you misleading codes before you go any further.
