Default Disconnect battery for short term storage?

My XJ8 needs to sit idle for 2 - 3 weeks. Is it a good idea (or does it hurt anything) to disconnect the battery for the duration?

I have never had a problem with 2 to 3 months between starts. If you pull the plug, I THINK you will reset thge adaprions and will require an OBD drive cycle before you can pass emissions, if you have such a test where you live.

Emissions test is once a year, in my case in the fall for this car. I have had ongoing issues with the battery getting low after awhile, so I don't want to have to mess with that until then.

I didn't think there should be any issues, but wanted to be sure.

You can issues with most notably window and lock operation. I see this when cars are left without battery power at body shops and other disconnected reasons. I would recommend a battery tender. Theyre only $30-35 at batteries plus and other outlets

boomer, when we travel for extended periods, we simply put trickle chargers on our cars. they are inexpensive and can be bought in most auto supply dealers like zone, advance etc.

rock on, bud

I certainly wouldn't. Mine has sat for several months and has started up just fine afterwards.

My cars sit for 3 - 4 weeks all the time --- I never do anything with them. The ones used only in the summer get put on a tenter.
