Driver door handle: Inside
Went to change out the driver door lock cable on one of my 02 XJR's over the weekend-- found out it is not the cable. The handle assembly is broken. Plastic base that holds the lower part of the chrome handle is broken. My memory is both the front and rear share the same handle and mount -- it's only the cable that's different. And, the difference is only in the length not design or ends. Can anybody confirm this? .. maybe switched them out.
Took the back door bezel off to give a look ... looks the same (IE: the driver door has the slot for the speaker as fitted on the rear door) -- but, until you actually try something .... aways a gamble.
The reason I ask is the price. Jaguar wants $200 for the driver door and $149 for the short wheelbase rear door and only $59 for the long wheelbase ..... sounds like they have a few of the LWB around. If they are all the same I will naturally order the LWB and just switch it out --maybe not even take off the door panel if I can avoid. I have the replacement cable if needed. Not something I want to go used.

When I changed out my gaskets, they were all the same size and pattern. You may want to check if that is with or without the key cylinder? Since the driver door is the only keyed one.
Sorry, never mentioned -- I'm talking about the inside handle.
But -- How difficult is the replacing the outside handle gasket ? Are you saying that all the handles use the same gasket number .. One of mine is going.
Oh, ok, so yeah, I haven't been in mine in awhile, but I thought them to be the same?
As for the bezel gasket... yes, I'm pretty sure its the same gasket and its rather easy, just undo the post nuts, slide it out without undoing the linkage. If I recall properly, it slips over and under the bezel like a backseat tumble
...you have to hold her still and aligned from the outside as you tighten back the post nuts.
I think it took me about an hour and a half or two because I also cleaned up some stuff while there....taking the door card off may take longer. The bear of one is the driver side, because of the key lock. Its a simple design but it isn't exactly a direct removal/install of the screw to remove the control arm. Oh and be sure to put some Loctite on that screw upon reinstall to prevent it backing out.

Can confirm -- handles are the same. Received and installed this morning -- ordered the left rear LWB for $59 and installed in the driver door. My cable was fine -- simple changeout of the handle assembly. No need to remove the door card -- took me longer to gently pry away the wood trim than switching out the handle.
Have a new LWB cable if anybody wants.
