I have an 1998 XJ8 with 95k miles and the driver side seat is stuck in the recline position all the way back and will not move forward. I heard it might be the motor and if so is this easy to replace?

There is a front seat recline motor. It is part of the recline motor/potentiometer/gearbox assembly that is attached to the front seat. The removal and reinstallation information is in the Jaguar Shop Repair manual.

It would entail removing the front seat, removing front seat backrest panel and then removing recline motor assembly from the seat.

Ask for these instructions in this thread, if you think you are going to need them and I will provide the 3 PDF files.
