Electrical system shuts down.
My 2003 XJ8 has a n electrical/electronic intermittent problem.
On occasion, when the key is inserted into the ignition switch all power is lost and it will not start. After sitting for a period, an hour to several, when the key is inserted the power is back and it will start. Also just recently the cruise control works intermitently as well and the "engine warning lite" comes on. It goes off when the cruise is turned off.
Can anyone shed any light on these issues?
Thx,
Don

Hi
Battery posts are clean and tight. Since this only happens when inserting the key in the ignition I'm thinking the switch. The peculiar thing is it seems to happen when the key is not fully turned to start. This has only happened twice and all lights, radio everything electrical shuts down.
Where is the Mega Fuse in the boot?
Thx

Follow the POSITIVE battery cable to the little plastic square on the front of the spare wheel/tire well.
There is a fuse assy that could become corroded and have a faulty connection.
Not likely but possible.
