Default Engine management code and no bolt on air hose!.

I have noticed there is a bolt missing on one of the air inlets!. The picture is below its loose and the seal does not meet properly would this cause any issues ?. If not I won't worry about it if it may cause problems does anyone know what size bolt this would be ?. Also, I am getting the error code P1646 manufacturer code on a Maxi Scan diagnostic tool. I wondered if anyone knows what this code means ?.

Air inlet!

It's not ideal - I'd fit the bolt

Seriously? Pull the bolt on the other side and go visit your parts store.

You will likely have a vacuum/air leak without the gasket fitted correctly and snugged down with a new bolt. While you are there, clean the throttle bore and plate (use the correct throttle cleaner -- same parts store where you buy the bolt).

While there, price a new upstream oxygen sensor (P1646 -- learn to use Google search tools!). Reset codes. Quite likely, however, cleaning and tightening the cover to the throttle body may solve that issue. Let us know.

Mat,

Don't mind Jim. He forgets that common sense escapes all of us at times!

I'm going to guess the screw you need is M6-1.0 flange head, 25 to 30 millimeters long.

When one of the screws broke through the plastic "ear" on the intake pipe of our 2003 where you are missing a screw, lean codes were triggered (P0171 & P0174).

Regarding your P1646 code, here are the definition and possible causes from the DTC Summaries guide:

Please let us know what you learn at the hardware store.

Cheers,

Don
