Default flat (flag) rate listing

Hi all.
Got my 1999 jag done finally and some dumb lady rear ended me the other day. In fighting with her insurance co. they want a break down on the work I just completed on my once gorgeous car. What I am looking for is the time flat (flag) time it would be to remove and replace the heads, do the timing chain and tensioners along with the water pump. The car still runs really well but they dont want to pay for it. so far they are just screwing with me. Hate Key insurance owned by Met James. wished this company would fess up and take care of business. Anyways I cant find anywhere where it talks about flat rate time for engine work on my car. Please please can anyone help, and thank you

You need a labor and time guide. Any repair shop should have one. If they let you borrow it or help you look up the time to do the job, only problem you would have then is how much is your labor rate.

I charge 18 hours to replace head gaskets on the X308 sedan (12 hours Jaguar warranty time, times time and a half).

12 X 1.5 = 18

I use the Jaguar Warranty software RTS (or Repair Times Search) formerly ROT (Repair Operation Time) and then multiply that by 1.5 for a REAL WORLD labor time.

ALLDATA, Mitchels, Chilton all have manuals or software for labor times.

You will want to add a little more time for the WP and lower tensioners.

I would upload the software but the CD is 94mb and it is .exe file.

Make them find and buy an equivalent car at any used car auction (it must be acceptable to you -- same or newer year; same or fewer miles.

Then buy yours back as junk. Trade parts.

Pure fantasy. All the insurance company is going to do (well, the most they'll do) is cut you a check for the market value of the car. Sad fact is, spending $2k on head work does not raise the value by $2k.

You're best off looking around for examples of similar vehicles for sale.
