Fog Lights Staying On
2001 VDP
This one has been sitting for a very long time, and the battery died. The battery was apparently dead so long that it wouldn’t charge, so I replaced it with a shiny new one thanks to Interstate Battery’s warranty. Now the fog lights stay on all the time with no other lights on. Tried turning the headlights on and off. Tried cycling through the fog lights on and off. Drove the car around a bit giving it time to adapt to its new found power. Fog lights still on. They are even on with the car shut off, key out of the ignition and all of the doors locked. The only way to turn them off is to disconnect the battery.
I’m hoping one of you has had a similar problem and can point me in the right direction to fix this peculiar problem. Many thanks.

There are a couple of places to check. You can check both and they are
in the engine compartment fuse box. First is the fuse in F17 15A for both
front fog lights and second is relay number 2 which is the front fog relay.
I would suspect the relay has gone south.

Thanks guys for your replies. Admittedly, I'm feeling quite silly for not checking the relay. I'm sure that's it. Work load is limiting my tinkering on this girl to weekends, so I'll be checking it Saturday. You guys are great!
As these cars age, electrical junctions can corrode and relays can
get tired. There is no magic to be deployed in these cases. Forum
members just need to be aware that this can happen and be prepared
to chase the current till the problem is discovered.
