Default Gap in air intake system

Hi guys. Well I've had my Jag for about 3 years and just decided to do minor work on the car myself. As I was looking at the engine, I noticed a gap in the Air system between the hose and the air box. Am I missing something there? The hose is stiff and doesn't stretch to close the gap. Any info or suggestions appreciated and I Love the site!

Here's a pic with an arrow pointing to the area, the gap is greater on the underside of the tube... Thanks again!

cclipse01: Based on my experience, there's nothing missing. The intake going to the throttle body should have an accordion section just past the tube coming in from the valve cover. If you loosen up the clamp, you should really be able to tighten up this gap. You could remove intake from throttle body, tighten up the gap, and then place back onto the throttle body, being careful not to burger up the gasket. Good Luck, and I too love this site!

I've had the same issue, but if you loosen the clamp as mentioned above, you should be able to stretch the hose enough to close that gap. It takes a bit of muscle, but it works.
