Default Help with part identification (with valve cover gasket)

I need to replace valve cover gaskets (left and right) on my 2003 x308. However, I also noticed that it's leaking at two plugs, I'm looking for help identifying it.

Thank you for your help.

Those are the seals for the Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) solenoids. (Item # 9 in the diagram above)

Jaguar part # AJ82856.

(Also note there are two styles of valve cover gaskets, early and later types, yours being a 2003 has the later type set).

You should be able to identify them by description in the attached extract from the parts catalogue (the seals/o-rings are not illustrated)

Awesome, thank you guys! I'm greaful for your help. In that case, I have to just figure out if I need to order these separately or they come together with the valve cover gasket kit.

Is there a parts/service catalog that you guys maybe have available to download? It would be great to have a resource center in here with all files divided by model.

I believe sng barratt still offers a hard copy catalog, and they certainly have one online.

Yes, that kit from Rock Auto will service both valve cover gasket needs of your 2003 XJ8.

It includes the main valve cover gaskets, plus the eight rubber o-ring seals for the spark plug holes, plus the smaller rubber o-rings for each of the 28 securing bolts.

@Carnival Kid thank you. I also
ordered two solenoid seals you linked for me. Thanks!

Now I’m just trying to find out if LJA6195BG can be replaced with LJA6195BF. The only part catalog I found online is for 1998 XJ, not for 2003 (which has some parts different). However, I’m aware that would be a separate post.

Jaguar recommends you use gasket sealant at the two timing cover joint spots shown above.

Also be sure to follow the tightening sequence shown above to avoid warping or cracking of the valve covers.

@Carnival Kid yes, for sure I will use the sealant. I see that some people also use the red spray as adhesive, I wonder if it’s worth it.

As of the sealant, supposedly there are all different colors :-)

is there a database of all PDFs you can share? With part numbers and service manuals?

SNG Barrett has a good online parts list.........
https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#/us/home

They list the selector module as LJA6195BG, but I do see both LJA6195BG and LJA6195BF listed on places like eBay.

That is a pricey item, why do you need one? I think I would be visiting my local auto recycling yard and grab a used one.

It’s cracked so visually it doesn’t look good.

Do you have a local auto recycling yard that may have a X308 that you could grab one from?
