The 'special tool' as Motorcarman describes usually resides on th end of the
Part Breather hose at the front of the left bank 'A'....near the Schroeder valve
for the EFI fuel rail access.
Standing on left side of engine bay, looking directly to the left engine cover
at it's front edge.
Of course it can be at other places that have these quick disconnect devices
or sadly as in a lot of cases missing altogether.
So, it's either the 'two nails' trick or long thin needle nose pliers....squeeze
and pull....carefully ;o))

Well, Murphys Law has struck. While changing the water pump, I slipped and snapped off the top Quick Fit connector at the radiator, 2001 XJ8 4.0. I'm assuming there is a part number so I can order a new one and reattach the line after removing the broken portion in the line.. Can anyone help?

That Ebay seller is the only place I've been able to find these Norma connectors. They're also selling the 90° elbow connector for the other end of that same hose.

We have all done it: it is best to order a new pipe from the dealer or on-line.

I broke mine first time I changed the water pump. Left the Jaguar part tag on it; took it in for an oil change at the dealer months later (wanted some other stuff done); raise the hood to check their work -- oh, not the same hose I had installed. Guess the tech got use to working on the newer series and forgot not to rest his hand . . .

My left wrist is responsible for several broken plastic pipes while working on the front of the Jaguar V8 engine over the last two decades.

I learned early on to disconnect the pipe from the radiator when working near the front of the engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to everyone for all the replies. As careful as I was, a moment of carelessness took it out. Next time, I will remove it before maintenance. I ordered a new line and a bag of the Norma Quick Connect fittings just have on hand. Ordered both items on eBay.
