Question How do I unlock the gas cap on my '02 VDP?!

So far the only way that I have figured out is to put the key in the drivers door and and turn clockwise (that is ridiculous, I know, but it seems the gas cap is always locked otherwise)

When the doors are unlocked, the gas cap cover is unlocked also. When doors are locked, cap cover is locked.

Definitely not the case for me, I don't remember if my last gas-up I pressed the dashboard unlock button or if I opened the driver's door to unlocks all doors, but one of those definitely did not open the gas cap (need more experimenting to confirm which)

I got tired of playing games with mine and disabled the lock feature on the fuel door by removing the plastic lock tab on the bottom of the door.

It's a useless feature anyhow. If you saw the contraption down in the tank that prevents fuel spill out of the filler in the event of a rollover, you'd agree that siphoning fuel is unlikely. Not impossible but very unlikely.

I guess I may have to worry about someone adding sugar to the tank, but I try not to have to many enemies anyhow.

Valet mode. Gas flap and boot switches won't work.

Yep. One time at the pump it would not open. Problem was solved with a screwdriver. You'll be shocked at how little security the locking lid offers. Heck I think I could have popped it with my bare hands if I wanted to bad enough.

You can also manually unlock it from inside the Boot/Trunk by pulling back the carpet at the side and sliding the lock mechanism. That is what the Owners Manual says. S.

I wish that worked for me but it didn't. I tried opening the cover in the left rear trunk and saw the switch but could not manually move the locking mechanism. also when I put the key into the drivers lock, turned it clockwise, all four windows went down. I had changed the fob battery but no change and neither fob appears to lock or unlock the doors.

You held it too long in the turned position.
