Default How to open gas tank lid??

The lid is locked and I can't figure how to open it. I done it once before but it is locked solid and I can't remember how I did it (I just got the car, XJ8 Vanden Plas 2003).

no he's talking about its not unlocking with the doors. Pull back the trunk trim on the side by the fuel door and youll see the release/lock solenoid, pull the lever back holding the pin to lock the door. Then either unplug the connector so it wont stick again, or buy a new solenoid lock if you want to keep in locked with the car

Default Valet mode

I think it is because the car is stuck in valet mode (I cleaned the interior, and I must have pushed a lot of buttons). The trunk won't open either (nor the gas lid). How do I get the car out of valet mode? I have no alarm, only one key. Thanks

you can open the trunk with the master key, and take out of valet with the remote, and or master key. The gas door should not stay locked to my knowledge with valet on. Only the trunk and glove box

I also read on here (I may be wrong) if you don't have the master key, you can open the trunk from under the license plate via the hole that is behind it. At least I am pretty sure I read that on here.

I have the same problem and I open the truck trying to move the carpet. It seems hard to remove. Doesn't seem meant for removing it and I am afraid that its going to break. Can you give me some guidance on how to remove the carpet? Many thanks

i am guessing you are in the trunk and trying to get at the lock for the gas filler door.

The carpet lining the trunk is stiff, but not so stiff that you can't pull it away from its retainers. Just go slow.

Hi! I've had couple of times lid was locked when I needed to gas up.

I cranked car. Locked doors. Turned off car, exited. Lid still locked. I got in cranked it turned it off, exited, then locked, then unlocked it, then cranked it. Got out and lid was unlocked.

I have no clue what worked but have learned these cars have to be tricked at times.

I am goin through this exact same process with my 2012 xfr. The stupid gas filler door lock randomly won't allow entry...just don't wait until the last second to get gas....my jaguar dealer has not heard of this before.... I am goin to ask him to check the solenoid as Brutal mentioned, thanks pal.

This happened to me too - my gas fuel door didn't open when I unlocked my doors. I locked and unlocked the doors a few times and it began working again.

I've read on this forum that you can access the fuel door solenoid through the trunk and apply lubricant to the solenoid and it should (at least for awhile) solve the sticky solenoid.
