Looking at an '03 XJ VDP Super
46,000 miles and very clean. They're wanting $15K. I'm very tempted.
They say they replaced the "body module" because they washed the car and then it wouldn't start. Said it cost them 3 grand to replace. Are they talking about the Throttle Body?
Any general opinions on the deal? Thanks.

The "body module" they replaced was more likely one of the car's computers controlling various electronics. A repair invoice or chat with the mechanic/technician who did the work should yield a specific part. I would want to know more about that.
Of course, washing a car should have no effect on a car in good condition any more than a drive in the rain would. I'd suggest you get as much detail as possible on the history and have it thoroughly looked over by a qualified Jag tech. A low-mileage '03 VDP would be a sweet ride if it's been well maintained and accident-free. Only a service history and Carfax can reassure you of that! So, let us know!

By "washing" did they mean they hosed out the engine bay or even pressure cleaned it? That might cause some serious problems!
As stated earlier, I'd want to know more about why they replaced the part and exactly what part it was. At $15k, the price is at the high end of its value, so I'd be careful.
Good luck.

Thanks everyone for the comments and advice. It's much appreciated and will be followed.
Yes, they pressure washed the engine compartment. Is $15K high for the Super version of the VDP? I thought there was a premium for that model??

I'm not sure I'd buy any modern car from anyone who admitted to that! Water in the engine bay can wreak all sorts of havoc on these cars. Sometimes the issues are temporary and go away when the moisture evaporates, but other times the problems are more serious.
As for the suggested retail at that mileage in excellent condition, kbb lists the VDP at $13K, and the Super at $24K. That doesn't include additional options.

It is the high end, the low end of a 2000 Super V8
would be about 5-7, low end for an 03 is 8-12. I
have seen a CN model with 110,000km for $11999.
I'm sure that ones with significant issues can go for
8k simply on the basis of model.
The car sounds great, but for example, I saw a signal
red 2005 with low miles (I forget, 60ish) going for 18999
with all available options just a couple months ago. It
sold, but it had TVs in the rear, nav, A/C seats, Supercharged,
Brembo brakes, power rear headrests/lumbar, ACC, etc.
Keep that in mind when you look at the old model at this price.
Then again, '05s or '03s don't come up too often. It is much
easier to find an XJR-100. There were 7 XJR-100s for sale within
500mi when I went to the other side of the US to find my blue car.

Cool car, good luck with the buy. I will say, of the years to look for,
'03 is the most desirable. '02 is just as good, as long as date of
manufacture is 09/01 (or late august, but that requires more no. # reading).
Your '03 could have been made as early as 02/02 I think even 01/02.
The car is fitted with CATS electrohydraulically actuated adaptive dampers,
which are a touring setup. The XJR has the same suspension, but it
is harder. The LWB also produces a bit more aerodynamic drag. It also
weighs between 50-100lbs more I believe.
Some would say it is the ultimate XJ. I say, go for it. As long as, with
an extended (try for over 1/2 hour) test drive, no electrical niggles
show, it should be good. Feel for a solid transmission. At this mileage,
it should feel basically like driving a new car. My 41,000 mile XJ Sport did.
