Seems I need help with my 98 XJ8 sunroof

It opens and closes. It does not leak.

But it is loose. When you close the door, from outside, you can see the sunroof move. When you are in the car, driving a bumpy road the sunroof rattles. It is worse in cold months.

If the roof is open or tilted - no noise.

I had a local sunroof/convertible repair shop look at it. He told me the unit is old, worn and not repairable. No adjustment or part could fix this.
Has anyone had this problem?

This noise can be unnerving - ruins a great ride

Also you should call Nalley Jaguar (one of the forum sponsors) and ask if Sunroof clip kit is still available and if it would fix your panel rattling issue (part# jlm21698) retail price is about $30 (mention you are forum member - 15% discount and free on orders over $25).

I found the kit part number in the Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog. There is no other information and it is not on the Sunroof JEPC diagram.

The JTIS shop repair does not give enough information and illustrations on the sunroof problems or show how to fix the clips and what to do when the panel gets unhooked.
