Default Love the troubleshooting

Hello everybody and thank you in advance for being a wealth of knowledge and quite clever as well. I have a 2003 XJR and love it. But the guy who sold it to me hosed me pretty good. I'm in the process of working on the electronics and have come across something i've yet to see on here. What the heck is this yellow jumper or whatever it is? And for what devious reason would it be in here? Love the troubleshooting-xjr-mystery-1.jpg

In the UK, Jaguar are often times used for towing and that is the vehicle side electrical connector for the towing harness

One devious reason would be to bypass the security control and locking module (SCLM). Maybe the PO had a problem with the taillights and jumpered the trailer connection to get them to work. Just thinking like a devious PO here. Have you tried taking the jumpers out to see what happens ?

Don't.
The wires are part of the female connector that need to be there when the female connector for the towing harness is not plugged in

It's such a rare sight that I always do a double take when I see a Jaguar towing!

I routinely tow an utility trailer and an 18' boat with mine. I'd rather be driving my Jaagggggg towing a trailer than driving a pick-mmm-up towing something any day!

So if i disconnect this what would happen? I'm a little confused. I know i'd have taillight issues but would it be detrimental to the car if i tried it?

I'm going to have to plead ignorance on that question. I've never used the towing harness (I guess we've established that that is what it is). The jumper wires in there do look suspicious though.

didn't you read my previous post/answer???????????

There is nothing suspicious here. There are factory jumpers on the factory female electrical connector needed when the towing harness is not connected.
The Orange/white is for rear fog lights and the green/white is a grounded signal to the bulb failure module.
Unplug it and your rear fog light will not work and you will have a bulb out warning

Thank you Luc for the information. FirstJag brought up the question. I just agreed that it looks a little strange.
