Default Misfire codes cyl 3 in 2000 VDP -- Any expert ideas for resolution?

Need experienced ideas... on yr 2000 VDP with low mileage 70K ... seems "too rich"
Most threads on this subject .. do not indicate how or whether problem was resolved or car "sold" or "junked".

In my 2000 VDP XJ8, jaguar suddenly missing , then will drop to "restricted performance" indication on instrument panel.
After parking and stopping for a period of time.... seems no "restricted" indication and starts fine.

Need experienced help as to how to cure problem....
Fault code test shows...following Engine Control Module faults....
p0303 ...... cyl 3 misfire
p1313 ...... misfire rate, excessive emissions , potential catalyst damage
p1316 ...... Injector Driver mifire -- emission damage
p0353 ..... Ignition coil C (primary/secondary circuit)
Yesterday I replaced coil-pack with new one on 3rd cylinder of passenger side.
After replacing #3 cylinder coil pack, car sounds OK at speed, but missing at idle and low speed erratically.
These fault codes appeared AFTER changing coil-pack, so I cleared codes, to see what may appear after some future driving.
Within past year.... replaced the following:
a. fuel pump inside gas tank in trunk.
b. fuel filter (under car, next to differential)
c. MAPF sensor replaced
d. throttle neck cleaned

Thanks to all for reading this thread and for any expert advice

There have been anecdotal reports that when you change one coil you start chasing the rest, my ‘99 XJR has a slight mis/shake at idle but is throwing no codes so I just live with it. I replaced all my coils with knock offs last year and they are going well.

Thanks..
Most worrisome is this P1313 ... potiential cat damage.. re misfire

seems to indicate too rich... so guess it is not an injector

One member came to me with a too rich problem. You need to read fuel trims to confirm. I was unable to figure it out and suggested a very experienced shop, but they were unable to find the cause. Replacing the MAFS finally solved the problem, but there were no explicit codes indicating it to be the problem.

Did you replace the spark plugs?

I think new plugs might solve your issue. Especially pull #3 and examine it. While in there, check each wire going to the coil pack for crimp, etc. Also, check the wiring to the MAF (and even tho you have changed it, clean it).

What is the status of the secondary timing chains on the right bank (or both for that matter)?

Bear in mind that misfires leave unburned fuel + air in the cat(s) (very bad news for the it/them) and if not burned there the exhaust (where you may smell it).

Due to the air the PCM thinks it needs to add more fuel...

Thumbs up engine misfire codes

Try doing a compression check of the cylinder. Had this exact problem with a 2000 XJ8. Found the Cylinder Valve seal ruptured and damaged the head. Had to replace the head. Now works fine.
