Default A must have Jaguar CD for all XJ8/XJR owners

They are always a lot of questions about electrical diagrams, owner manuals, etc in this forum.

Jaguar has a CD ( Part # JHM 1190, about $25) called :" Jaguar XJ8 & XJR. Supplementary Information 1998 to 2002" that include:

Electrical Technical Guides
Electronic Technical Guides
Mechanical Technical Guides
Service Information
Dealer Fitted Modifications and Accessories
Press Packs
Sales Brochures
Owner's Litterature
Model Year Introduction and Update
Vehicle Specification Booklet

This CD cover 98 to 02 for both USA and ROW/UK and must have like 3000 pages of info

Great information. I was just wondering about something like this this morning on my way to work. I plan on doing as much work as I can on my new XJR myself because the Indy and Dealer labor is . Something like this would be invaluable.

On E-Bay you can find a CD called JTIS short for Jaguar Technical Information System. I got Issue 21 which covers 1995 to 2004 M.Y. - All Models. It will work on Windows XP, 2000, ME, 98, 95 and it works on my Win 7. It isn't as good as a shop manual, but it does give test proceedures for the DTC codes like P0121. I got mine for $25.00

Hi
Did your JTIS CD come with the engine repair sections? I have bought 2 of these JTIS CD (1 about 6 months ago and other about 6 years ago). The only Engine section on the CD is the 303-1 Engine in Vehicle Repair. In 303-1 the only topic is Oil pressure switch.

If yours has the rest of the Engine sections, please put in a place where I can download it.

Jim,
The information is on the JTIS for your 2001 but you need to use the 98 or 99 year for the engine info!! It seems they only added entries in the years after 98 when there was a change from the previous years.

Thank you
You were right on. I found the Engine sections when I selected the Service for 1998 XJ, then text nagivator - Powertrain: 303-01 Engine: In Vehicle Repair -- shows Connecting Rod Bearings, Crankshaft (lots of enteries), Cylinder Head, etc.
Also has engine removal and installation.
It does not seem to have any engine rebuilting information (engine internals such as replacing pistons, etc).

Good tip pete!

If anyone would like to share any pdfs of some valuable content from that CD, you may send it to me via email, and I can put into your FAQ section, and host it permanently . I'm not talking the whole thing, but perhaps a section or two, a page here and there with the good stuff.

Hi Frostytel
Jtis is a 32 bit program and will not install on vista 64 PC. If you have a new large hard drive you could create 2 partitions on it. One for Vista 64 bit install and another for XP 32 bit install. And you would be using this PC as a dual boot PC. That means if you want to run 32 bit software you have to boot it up in the XP32 bit partition. For all of your Vista 64 programs you would have to boot the PC up in the Vista 64 partiton.
You would be better off buying the XJ models shop repair PDF download that an Ebayer has listed for $30 that looks like the same information and illustrations that are in the JTIS software.
