new to forums, and jaguar. Not a good combination.
So i bought this jaguar out of needing a vehichle because I lost my pryor vehichle to someone else’s bad driving. I have only owned it since december 15th 2024. since then, battery was dying left and right, solved that by removing the glove box bulb. then and now, transmissions done. but it drove, and then fuel pump went. did some research got fuel pump, fixed it, only to have a fuel leak. i know where the leak is, problem now is no lines are for sale for it, and ebay sellers are just well to be kind, douche bags on prices. and no guarantee of being good. also did more research and found the mystery black box that’s attached to the fuel pump is actually part of the sending unit and. well, that’s off the hook on price too. but I will pay the price for it because it burns fuel pumps up. that’s first task. once i get fuel lines, thinking i might be able to make my own? not sure, let me know some input on that. cause i got to move the car where it is, so i can change the zf24 tranny which I obtained to replace the crap one that’s in it. my area mechanics outside of pittsburgh, no one wants to touch it, not even the jag dealers. so Doing this by my own hand. i’m mechanically inclined, not wire savvy, it’s spaghetti to me to this day. and jaguar is full of a lot of spaghetti and I can’t even enjoy the meatballs. so one step at a time, fuel line problem and no lines to replace it, without selling my great grandmothers ring to get it. And the nightmare begins, but as you will all learn over time, no car has ever defeated me. The Green Goblin will run again. Just need brains to pick and possible solutions. could use all the help I can get. hope that wasn’t too much, btw if you ask me to refer to other posts, it may take me weeks to find them. I have a hard time navigating a forum.
Take I one step at a time.
What’s wrong with the tranny? The Zf trannys are good, and can be rebuilt.
you didn’t say how many miles are in it…but I’d question the logic of a 20 year old Jaguar as a daily driver.

Note that he is in the U.S. and his 2003 XJ8 is a 4.0L X308, so it has the ZF 5HP24. Your 2003 is an X350 4.2L S/C with the 6HP26.

Don

Dying7,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums. It's great to have you with us.
What exactly are the symptoms of transmission malfunction? Common failure modes of the 5HP24 include excessive fluid pressure due to a problem with the pressure regulator, which can often be resolved with a repair kit from TransGo. If left untreated, the excessive pressure can cause the A drum to crack. But there are plenty of other potential malfunctions, some of which are relatively easy to resolve. Let us know the symptoms and we'll try to help.
P.S. It helps to include a few line breaks in your posts so other members don't have to try to read a huge vision-blurring block of text.
Cheers,
Don

Welcome to Jaguar Forums.com., dying 7. There a a lot of good folks here that can provide starting points and recommend DIY repairs plus sources for the parts.
For new parts, Harper Jaguar https://www.harperjaguar.com/ is the go-to for many people. They almost always have better parts pricing than other dealerships in the US. For salvaged parts I personally start my search at https://www.tomsforeign.com. and they will work with you on pricing and availability. I think they have at least two (2) warehouses and I just ordered replacement fog light assemblies from them. My sales guy there is Brian.
Being mechanically inclined, the first place to go for your X308 information is https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/.
Hang in there. My 2004 XJ-8 has 111,000+ miles on the ticker and I have done most the work my self using help and advice from jaguarforums.com to keep it in VG shape. Only twice have I gone to a foreign auto repair shop: transmission oil and replacement pan and when the auto brake engaged and I could not get it to release. It was one of those d'oh! moments. .

I think I removed the empty space you were referring to. Thx.

ok the standard 2003 issue, because of the transition from X308 to X350. Thanks for the clarification, I should have looked at the signature...
But shouldn't the thread be moved to the correct forum?
Best regards,
Thomas
