Noise from right rear
I recently acquired a 1999 Jaguar VDP. I have noticed that I am getting a noise from the right rear as I drive over a bump. It does not happen when turning or going straight. It also does not happen when accelerating or stopping but does seem to happen more often when going slowly uphill on my driveway. I thought it was the shocks as the car has 78000 miles and has been sitting for a few years. After changing them out I still have the noise. I have had the car up on a rack and pried on the exhaust, driveshafts, and wheels but feel no obvious loose culprit. I am thinking that my next effort to stop the noise is to change out the wheel bearing and probably u-joints while I have it apart. I would appreciate any suggestions anyone might have before I go to the trouble of replacing these items.
Thanks for any suggestions. Dave

When I had this issue, it was the rubber donuts that hold the exhaust pipe in place: no play when you shake it, but over a bump, yes. Also, while it is on the rack, grease the zerk fittings on the U-joints for both axles as they come out the differential, these often dry up.

Thanks for your response. There is a slight movement in the rubber donut but I didn't think it was sufficient to cause the noise. I will try and stabilize it temporarily to see if it helps. Thanks, Dave
