Default proper speakers for 2002 XJ8

I am looking for the right size and quality speakers to replace the ones in the doors, maybe the woofer too. I would appreciate any information and/or advice. Thanks in advance.

I went /w Rockford Fosgate P165 6.5" 2-ways in my doors, sound awesome & fit perfectly. Practically a steal nowadays, if you can find them.

There is a cheaper way to repair the speakers that you have ( the rest of the speaker should be OK becouse the surround foam , not mounting foam up to a point desinagrates ) as a DIY . Save you some bucks .

Those speakers although top end @ the time are no match for today's standards.

I have had good luck fixing speakers with replacement surrounds -- have not tried to the x308 ... it would be useful for the singe duel coil woofer on the real shelf ... Recently did an old MB ...

Sometimes is hard to find matching coil ohm in the size you need for autos -- done so you can't easily switch out.

I have repaired 3 or 4 rear subwoofers (Harmon Kardon & Alpine) with the new foam surround kits.

It was easier than trying to modify.

Bob -- what type ?

If I go through the trouble removing the rear shelf for the third light connection .. maybe I should have a surround on hand to fix the speaker should it need. I'm leaning towards just cutting the wires and doing a splice

From what I understand the subwoofer speaker is a shallow and not very tall speaker because of the fuel tank and is hard to find a new replacement hence repairing the original . Mine does not have this subwoofer .

My memory is a "duel coil" input .. it's an odd duck
