Default Quick question- how to disconnect this electrical connector?

I’ve spent an hour searching online, half an hour attempting to remove it.

I give up- what’s the secret?

seems like I should insert a screwdriver after sliding the red lock…

No tools are needed nor required.

Move the red locking tab down and squeeze the connector at the top whilst gently pulling to release the plug.

Certain Jaguar engineers never got the memo....Simpler is better.

Ugh!

does the red lock move more than I have it. It doesn’t seem to want to move any more.

which end should slide out? The one that is buried or the one with the grey and beige wires peeking out?

idk why I’m having so many problems with a stupid plug. The last time I tried one of these was on my xj6. I pulverized it and had to splice connections in.

I saw one post that you pry the red clip up after it was slid, but that was on an ‘88 or so. This doesn’t seem to want to move up.

I soaked it in silicone spray.

thanks for helping me with this stupid, trivial thing that has me perplexed.

The red lock must slide down towards the end with the connector having the white and gray wires protruding. Once the lock is moved in that direction, gently squeeze the area above the red lock to release the tab holding the sides of the connector together so they can be separated.

In all 3 of those pictures, the red lock is already in the ‘unlocked’ position. The red tab does not come out any further. See red line below followed by caption.

Thank you for the question and the answer. Two years on and the post is still helping people! (I'm part way through the valley hose replacement.)

Cheers, Dave
