Unhappy Radio code - help please

I replaced the battery in my 2001 VDP and now I need a code to re-activate the audio system (Alpine). I looked everywhere on the car and papers but nothing. There is no Jaguar dealer near where I live.Thank you!

Not 100% sure, but I believe you can only get this info from a dealer.

If your Radio Head unit is configured to USA then it should NOT have locked up with the battery disconnect. It might be set to another market and now you need the code. If and when you get the code please reset the radio to USA and this won't happen again.

Call any dealer, with your VIN they will give you the code.

Bob, if the radio is set to something other than USA, wouldn't the radio frequencies be different than the standard USA FM and AM freqs? Mine required a code, yet the frequencies are USA standards.

I can't remember the differenent freqs but some are AM and some are FM (only odd or even) and most people only listen to FM. I would check to make sure the radio is set to US or North America. I have disconnected my battery several times (1999MY XJ8) and I have not had to enter my radio code. I do have to enter the code on my 1992 XJ6 but I have that memorized.

I'll check my radio soon and make sure the system is correct.
Here is a TSB for info.

Be aware that when you change the market code, you will lose ALL presets!!

I thought that maybe one of the members works at a Jaguar dealership and could help me; that's why I provided the VIN.
Thanks

My USA Vanden plas doesnt require a code. It's an Alpine system too. My manual has a code for the radio though.

A simple phone call to the service department is all it takes... certainly not a lot of 'pull' necessary.

Talking Radio Code

My 2001 VDP with the Alpine system does not require a code. I didn't think U.S. cars required the code if the battery was disconnected.

pretty sure my car is a USA car and I had tire blowout in THE HILLS HAVE EYES returning from vegas to PHX. Well AAA could not even find me for 3 hours and my battery went dead for at least an hour. I ended up needing the code and just had to call the service department with the last six digits of my VIN and got the code.

You need to set the radio head unit to US.

I just had a 2000 VDP in my shop last week and I disconnected the battery to replace the gearbox 'A'drum. I reconnected the battery and the radio displayed CODE. I found the code and reset the head unit from EUROPE RBDS to US RBDS and now the radio does NOT need the code if the battery is disconnected!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are in the US please set your radio head unit to US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My battery went dead last weekend. I removed it and put in on a charger for about four days. Just put the battery back in today and everything worked including the radio (no code required). Maybe a brand new battery is a different situation. Anyway, just give a Jag dealer a call and they should be able to fix you up.

Bit of friendly advice: Take Your VIN number off the site to protect yourself from fraud and from being a victim of crime! If they get your VIN there is a whole host of info about you they can get and use.

Sorry Can't help with the radio code.

Its just to protect yourself really. I know its in the front window of the car but theres more chance of the Vins being seen on forums like these.

Glad you got your code sorted.

I just got a second hand 2000 alpine HU for my 2000 XJR from a US parts folks so presumably don't need a code for it BUT I forgot that USA cars do not need code and so found these guys who will give you a code for $20:
JAGUAR CAR RADIO CODE UNLOCK DECODE BY SERIAL NUMBER | eBay

good luck
