Not too many Jaguars in the US with coded radios so you are really unlucky.

You need to enter the 4 digit Security Code using the number buttons on the radio to unlock it. Enter the wrong code three times and the radio will lock until it's been powered ON for one hour before you get three more tries. As there's 9999 possible code combinations, guessing isn't really an option.

The Security Code will have been on a card like this when the vehicle was new:

Radio enter code ?-radio-security-code-card-.jpg

If you have the card, punch in the code and you're done.

A missing code card is a regular issue here in the UK where all our radios are security coded. A call to the dealer with proof of ownership and quoting the VIN usually gets the code from them.

The CEL is not linked to the radio code in any way. This is a separate issue.

Result.
You'll still have the CEL (Check Engine Light) on? If you haven't got access to a scantool, somewhere like Autozone will be able to read the DTC error codes and clear the light for you.

Get the actual codes and post them on the forum for an explanation of what they mean. If the fault that's causing the CEL to illuminate isn't fixed, the light will come back on.

Seriously though, you need an OBD reader - there's a huge thread on them but I'm very happy with a cheap EBay bluetooth adapter and an Android app called 'Torque'

Default radio code

Further to this, I recently needed to enter my radio code, which I did, now all I'm getting is a "wait" sign....do I have to press anything else after the four digit code?

The WAIT message appears if you enter the wrong code three times.

The radio has to be powered ON for one hour before you can try to enter the code again.

By powered ON, that means ignition ON or engine running for one hour and not just leaving the radio in the switched ON position.

I just call any Jaguar dealership (besides this local one who dont seem to have any anyformation about Jaguars besides selling news ones). I usually use one in Atlanta. They just ask for VIN number and they supply correct 4 digit pin for that car. This is assuming thta is the original radio that came with the car when new or else you'll have to pull the radio out and give them the numbers from the radio tag that is on the back. Takes about two minutes to retrieve info and 30 seconds to put in. Once the digits are entered correctly, the radio should just come on. Mess aroudn and get it wrong three times, it will say "wait" for very long time (about 10-15 mins) or until battery is disconnected again within that time frame.

I have also found that if you disconnect the battery (negative lead) for a few minutes you can try over again straight away.
