Default Rain Sensor - Adhesive

Hello Jag Enthusiasts. I hope everyone and their Jags are doing OK. Now, unfortunately, during removal of broken interior rear view mirror (X308 with rain sensing) the rain sensor came away from the glass (some general background can be seen from earlier posts - https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...w-mirror-8810/). The Q. is how to reattach the rain sensor. I have some brand new clear/transparent silicone (sealant as used in kitchen & bathroom), the rain sensor is very light so I thought it should work - any thoughts? If not the silicone, what to use? Otherwise replacing the mirror looks fairly easy using the info available online, although I did have to wiggle and tug the old mirror stem for a few minutes before it very suddenly broke free. Many thanks.

The adhesive 'gel-pad' is not expensive so I just buy a new one and replace when they fail or replace a windscreen.
