Gathering parts for the rear shocks in my non-CATS 01 XJR. Pair of new green Bilsteins is obvious and I believe it comes with everything inside the box labeled 7 (below) , what about other common wear parts that ought to get replaced while its all apart?
Is it just part #4, the upper spring isolator that's the common wear part and all the rest is metal? I can get OEM Jag ones for $50 each.
The spring isolator will not be included with the replacement dampers.
I have a 2000 XKR that the previous owner had new dampers installed BUT they re-used the old spring isolators.
The whole job needs to be redone to replace them. (not happy)
There are so many things like this that could have been engineered
so much better.... I always like to think of the engineering changes
that could have been made to make things such as this a much more
cost effective and prudent arrangement.
#4 is all you’ll need. Bob’s older post on how to do the shocks the “easy” way is spot on. The shock/spring assemblies DO quite literally fall out that way. Took me about 45 min per side as a “first time ever” job.
