Default Rear Shock Mount Bolt Size

Having trouble finding replacement info for the 4 bolts on the rear shock mount plate. I will be changing the rear shocks soon and I estimate that there will be 87.5% chance that I snap a bolt or two off since they are so seized with rust

M8 x 1.25mm 'paint clearing bolts' are what Jaguar uses but any M8 bolts will work that are 25mm to 30mm long.

thank you Motorcarman - I appreciate that. Best case scenario I can reuse the original, worst case scenario I’ll have the tap and die set handy 😅

I have never had to replace the bolts, I just re-use them but rust is not a big problem here in North Texas.

I would love to work on a car with no rust. Unfortunately the solution used here in NY seems to be designed more so to aid in corroding iron than melting the snow. The trickiest part here is being patient with penetrant and heat.

Snow and ice melting at the expense of increased metal oxidation
has never seemed a wise solution in my book. However, there does
not seem to be another solution which would be effective without
that effect. My own solution is not to drive the Duchess in these
conditions, preferring a more expendable vehicle.

you are definitely correct. But the duchess is such a head turner!
