Replacement Keys and Keyless Entry Fobs
Not @ Park Place .. the $133.00 should have included the cutting of the (1) key .. They didn't charge me anything to cut their key .. and, btw, they are the ONLY source for cutting them that I know of in the DFW area (other than Motorupman, and I think he is still a bit down b/c of his recent stroke ?) . There are places on Ebay that if you send them the key they will cut it for around $50 or so .. one is in FL .. another one in Australia for about the same in U.S. $$ (but imagine the postage charges!)
I can configure with WDS or IDS but that is all.
Here in the Knoxville area, I have just about exhausted the entire range Locksmiths in the area.
I find it VERY frustrating to see the number of advertisements that CLAIM to be able to program 8 cut tibbe keys, but actually have no equipment or intent to do so.
Another frustration is those you speak with by phone, who SAY they can do it, (after explaining at length the particulars) but when you actually go there, you find out they can't.
It looks as though a trip to the Jaguar dealership is my only recourse. Having only a single key is an extremely large worry, I wish to get rid of.
It would almost be as cost effective to purchase the programing materials and learn to do it myself.

Well, again, here in DFW there is a single shop that works on Jags (exclusively) that does have the software to program the keys. I was just stunned to learn that the dealership where I bought my keys and had them cut said they only have software still to program MY 2012 Jags and newer (and the same for the other 3 Jag dealerships in our area). It almost seems like the dealerships are trying to coerce classic Jag owners into upgrading to newer models. Sorry, but I'm not doing that ..
I would mention also that I did find a mobile, solo locksmith here who only works with keys on high-end vehicles. Someone had suggested him to me, claiming that he did the honors for another classic Jag owner they knew. I called him up and he claimed he could do it, but something just seemed "uncertain" in his voice as though maybe he didn't know for sure himself as to his claim. He wanted $200 or $250 to come to my car and program the two keys.

Had some much more important "personal priorities" come up of late, Motor ... Plus I wanted to get Harlem up to snuff as much as possible before I have AAA transport her to that shop for the key programming, so I don't have to/am tempted to have him figure out all her other issues (to the tune of $150 hr.) before I have AAA bring her back home. My tech bud was working on them in his spare time, but he has to do construction work for a living .. and we've run into other obstacles with her. First, the driver's side hood latch would not release .. he finally got the hood opened (using the emergency wheel arch hole for that purpose) and thought he got it resolved, then the passenger side's wouldn't release. I'd been waiting weeks for SOMEONE to get in a good used replacement hood cable for him to put in, but now I'm told it's probably not the fault of the cable but something else. ? Also, still don't have power going to either the radio head unit or the front cigarette lighter (all fuses good now, btw) and we can't seem to figure out what's up with that, or maybe power won't go to them w/o a programmed key in the ignition and in pos II. ? No one can seem to give me a definitive answer to that question (although a fellow local member of J-Lers who also has not gotten his new key programmed yet told me he would check that out for me with his car - no response of late). Ugh. And then after I tragically discovered the rust (even small holes) under the front floorboards I was about to just pitch the whole thing and sell her for parts/scrap. And then, on top of it all, even once the new keys are programmed, we have to figure out her original non-start condition (cranks but won't start). But, if I get her minor body work issues resolved + a new repaint, she will be sharp-looking again (black/black) and I should be happy to keep her for the rest of my days, most likely. So I really don't want to dump her (plus, she was my late bro's Jag - I think of him whenever I see her).
OMG YES. I literally am living this experience now in 2024. like two locksmiths. My professional Jag shop which is probably best in the state if not midwest was like lolz itll probably be easier for you to have us pull the transponder hub and have you send it somewhere to be wiped then have us put it back in then trying to deal with dealer or finding a locksmith. I want to keep OEM as possible so I start calling all locksmiths, theres literally like 2 people in the entire area and one of them is unsure because can't clone a bad transponder. The other is out of state until Monday. BUY MULTIPLE KEYS PEOPLE.
Forkin 2nd owners of a vehicle I tell you like I accused her after having bought it. The only thing YOU DID TO THIS VEHICLE WAS LOSE THE KEYS AND SPEND $500+ to have one made that's not even keyed to trunk... some peoples kids.
