Default Replacement Key/fob

My 2013 XK came with only one remote fob which works of course and a key which does not work!!!
Is it possible to obtain a new fob/key from Jaguar?
I am unable to open the glove box where I hope to find the owners manual which can guide me to all the fancy gizmos on this beautiful car.
Tried changing the Valet code, etc. but to no avail.

About the ONLY place to get a fully-functioning Smart Key is from Jaguar. They cost, if I remember, about $350 for the key and another $175 to program. That doesn't include the additional $225 for a cut key blade. If you had a working Emergency Key Blade, you could purchase a blank blade from somewhere and have any decent Locksmith cut the new one using the old as the sample. Cost about $20 for that cut, plus whatever for the blank. Since NO, you could ask Jaguar for you Key Code and HOPE to find a place that can cut a key from that. I've had MISERABLE luck on that route. I've had only ONE of probably twelve attempts that actually worked.

Getting used Smart Keys off eBay (or wherever) is risky as the FOBs need to be unmarried from the original car. Hard to do if the original car is a smoldering heap.

You COULD buy a new and unprogrammed Smart Key and then get it programmed using Jaguar SDD software, but most of the time and most places nobody has that stuff except Jaguar Dealers.

There are a number of threads on this forum dealing with replacing key fobs. Although I haven't had to deal with the issue I have read through most of the threads. My conclusion is, if it were me I wouldn't spend the time and effort on trying to avoid the Jaguar dealer, because that is where you will eventually end up any way. Save yourself time, effort and frustration go to your nearest Jaguar dealer, bite the bullet, spend the necessary dollars and get yourself a new key fob from the source and be done with it.
