I laid down a good thirty miles to a symphony of fender rub. It went into "reduced performance" mode once, but that went away after restart. It's done that since day one for me.

Next task is front subframe mounts. This thing's front end bops around like a Muppet when you hit the brakes. Those rubber mounts are sheared right in half.

Sounds like you also need some spring spacers.

If the vee mounts are separated, it’s also quite possible that the circular ones on the rear of the front subframe are not far behind either.

If the subframe mounts are utterly shot won't the bodyshell sit lower on the subframe? that could be the cause of the rubbing on it's own couldn't it?

As for the reduced performance, sounds time to read the codes.

If your vee's are shot, there's a good chance the rear bushings in the front subframe are also shot, or about to be.

Good luck with sourcing them... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...6/#post2777828

Although I have not replaced anything in my very same X300 suspension I think of it in terms of depth levels

A / shocks and shock bushings

B / A arms and roll bar bushings

C / Vee mounts , requires engine upper cradle , unless someone knows an easier / cheaper way

This A , B , C can have items added by viewer's experiences in while there groupings

In your case a target item of a suspected Vee mount makes you map out your attack

Certainly welcome others that have the experience in this area to expand on this approach

This is someone great pic of a like X300 with the green disk the engine block attach

The upper shock attach on the X308 I believe has the same needed 4 donut isolators

You will need the lower shock bolt bushing as you may see daylight through yours ( there are cheap low service life replacements to avoid ) Hi Bob

Jaguar part # ?

Steering And Suspension | Jaguar Land Rover Classic Parts

I'm I looking at this correctly for the X308 as Item # 13 lower shock bolt Motorcarman ? This is starter information for original poster

So I got an xjr from the scrapyard recently. Ran and drove it home, though it had several alignment and suspension issues as well as a taco'd radiator.

I've got everything addressed to make it run and drive alright. Last night I went to install some larger tires. I had to put it in neutral at one point to roll it around a bit, but everything seemed to go well. A little trimming here and there. I flattened a few seams in the wheel well with a ball peen to keep things from rubbing. Now, it wont start....

With the battery hooked up and keys out of the ignition, the dash lights up. Several faults scroll through the info screen. Aside from trunk open, door open, I also get asc not available, suspension fault, low brake fluid, transmission fault, incorrect part fitted, electrical fault. When I depress the brakes, the dash goes dark. With brake depressed and ignition turned on, the dash lights back up and goes through system check, but still has the same faults and will not crank the engine. It also will not communicate with my obd2 scanner, which it previously had no issues connecting with.

I've looks all over the areas I was working for any damaged wires and found none. All 350 fuses checked out alright. I unplugged and contact cleaned all the connections and noticed no change when I hooked the battery back up.

There is no jaguar dealership within 500 miles of here. So I'm either going to figure this out here in my garage or it's going back to the scrapyard.

This may or may not be related, but I was having intermediate transmission fault and "reduced performance" in the past that always cleared with a simple turn off, turn on of the ignition. Also recently the drivers door switches (mirror adjustment, windows) stopped working correctly.

So what say you? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm more of a toyota guy...
This car can definitely be maintained on your driveway but it just requires constant attention, you gotta clean the throttle body often etc... if the battery isn't in tip top shape you can get a lot of weird misfires and whatnot. It's not the easiest car to own but once you learn how to deal with all the quirks it's very reliable and an impressive performer.

Three years ago we became a Mini Cooper household. The Mrs. has three parts cars to keep one 2008 Base model functional. I'm somewhat familiar with the madness.

Randy, 3 minis is about 2 X308’s in terms of length.
