Default Throttle body part number help

Hello,

I recently posted a thread asking about the possibility to change the stepper motor of the throtle body but I had zero replies Now I need help in knowing which is the part number for my throttle body: It is a Jaguar XJ8 3.2 from 1999 and VIN is 867442. Also I would like to know if I can replace it by a throttle body of a 4.0 engine.

Thank you

We do not have the 3.2 engine here in the US but there are only 2 throttles for the 2 engines. (The AJ26 and the AJ27)

The bolt patterns are different as are the electrics so they cannot be interchanged.

The part is obvious if you look in a salvage yard for a good used part or a 'pic' of the part online.

Anyone know if there is a third throttle for the X308?????

Hi
Update: I am getting confused - According to the 1999 DTC PDF file Vin# 812256 to 853935 cover XJ model series have A26 Engines; Vin# 853936 and up are A27 engines.
Which one is correct - DTC PDF file or the Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog???

If the DTC PDF file is correct, then Vin# 867442 vehicle has A27 engine, If JEPC is correct than it has A26 engine.

The throttle body part# for your 1999 XJ8 3.2 is C2A1470EK per Gaudin Jaguar parts lookup (using part# LCC1560AA1 per Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog that was superceded by C2A1470EK). Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog XJ8 NA 3.2 and 4.0 Vin range from 853936 to F00192 (your Vin# 867442).

Gaudin Jaguar Parts online price error $352 (USA) email reply from Gaudin quotes price at $1198, XJK Ltd (UK website) has it for 250 pounds ($392).

wow .....I thought that that was a more expensive part ?

My memory is that the XJR part was over 2k.

At $350.00 that would be worth replacing for those with many "failsafe" issues

Sorry yeldogit
Your 2002 XJR A27 4.0L (2002 Vin numbers start with F41863) does not have the same Throttle Body as his 1999 XJ8 3.2L A26 vehicle.

Your 2002 XJR Throttle Body Part# is C2A1445 ($1627 on Ebay, $1706 on Gaudin Jaguar Parts website).

ASI on EBAY rebuild your existing Throttle Body with life time warranty for $326.

I am going to buy the ASI on Ebay rebuild service (throttle body) for our 2001 XJ8 Vin# F33132 today for $326. (new Throttle Body for our 2001 -P/N C2A1444 is $1889 at Gaudin Jaguar Parts Website).

Hello Jim,
Just to clarify....

A '98MY car is what you guys call a '99MY etc.
So. an AJ26 engine runs from 812256 to 853935....the change over to AJ27 engines came about in September 1998 (which you refer to as '99) and the engijnes run from 853936 and up are A27 engines. ......

You will also notice two distinct fetaures that designate the engine type.
The AJ26 engines use a TB with a large round black vacuum actuator for the cruise control and the VVT units on 4.0 litre NA cars stick out the front of the timing cover.
3.2 and super charged engines do not have VVT operation.

AJ27 engines use a throttle body that does not have the black vacuum actuator as the later cruise control is fully electronic.
Also, the VVT units have their operating solenoids sticking vertically from the cam covers.

These features are the quickest visual identification of the two engine types.

So, according to the engine number....the pic shown for the TB is the wrong one....that is for an AJ26 engine....he needs the later TB without the vac. actuator.

My VIN is 866634 ( 3/1999 ) and I have always been thinking that I have AJ26... Are you sure that engines up from 853936 are AJ27s???

When I bought a factory new TB, it was said this:

EDIT: I just got confirmation that S/C cars were AJ26 ones up to 11/1999 VIN 878717, but N/As were AJ27 already from late 1998 VIN: 853936 .
JAGUAR THROTTLE BODY
XK8 (NON-SUPERCHARGE) UP TO CHASSIS 031302
XJR (SUPERCHARGE) UP TO 878717
XJ8 (NON-SUPERCHARGE) (ALL MODELS)
XKR (SUPERCHARGE) UP TO 42775
