I was working inside my door last night and had unhooked the front door speaker. While I was trying to figure out why my power window motor quit working, I saw another connector hanging loose in the bottom of the door. It looks almost just like the door speaker wire. Is this for a tweeter? Is it functional on my car? Thanks

 

It will be a speaker connector, do you have premium system installed, question is, do you have tweeters in the A' pillars running down the side of the front windscreen, if so then that connector is redundant - if you plugged another tweeter in all you would do is lessen the power to the mid range driver in the bottom of the door card, and lessen the stereo effect. The amp in the premium system is internally crossed over.

 

Cool! I do have the tweeters in the A pillar panels. Do the non-premium cars have the tweeters in the door handle cups like the rear? I am asking because I noticed yesterday the rear door handle cups with tweeters will fit right in place of the original front ones.

 

Yep. A's = premium, doors = standard.

so is the reverse true? Do we standards have an extra plug in the A pillar for a tweeter if we wanted to optimize that location and not use the door cup?
