I hadn't thought of that, it might be worth a shot until I can get the replacement hose ordered. Such a pain to get to that particular spot, that's for sure. Maybe there'll be some light at the end of a tunnel for this thing soon! Wouldn't that be great if that's the leak that was somehow causing my 0171/0174? I mean, I know it isn't, but what if! lol

Tomorrow, I might even get to wash it!

CharlzO,

If you are talking about the line I think you are, I totally think a vacuum leak in that spot large enough to negatively effect braking could cause your lean codes. I could be wrong but I would keep hope alive!

Here is a pretty cheap used one on eBay.

Well it certainly affects braking, as I have zero power behind my braking at all. Plus side, I have a right calf that Popeye would be proud of! I see that one is listed for an X100, and has a little different end for the Throttle Body connection. Anyone know if those can be used successfully? Certainly seem more plentiful the our good ol X308s.

Did trunk struts and hood struts. Both made a reasonable, but not massive difference, more noticeable in the trunk. Hopefully this means I can work under the hood without fearing for a gust of wind closing it on me, or worse on some sharp tools that punch through the metal. It's definitely stiffer than it was before (and opens a bit higher) but it's still pretty broad and weighty.

Also my Proclip base finally arrived! Adhesive patched a cheap universal phone holder onto it since there's not a special mount for my phone. Very happy with the Proclip base, not so much with the holder itself but I'll get a custom holder once I get a nicer phone, no sense in splurging on a holder that I'd switch out soon anyway. See attached pic for a view of the setup from the passenger's side.

CharlzO,

I noticed it was advertised for the X100 also. I did the eBay search using what I believe is the correct part number for the X308 (MNC5910BG) and that one came up, of course that doesn't mean it's correct I guess.

(Also, I think I used "effect" when "affect" was proper. My wife is a teacher, I usually do better than that! lol)

It looks very similar, though it has a grommet on the TB end which probably isn't needed, and might need to be formed a little different. I found one listed for 22 bucks shipped, I might give it a try anyway and see if I get lucky.

I ordered the new maybe-it'll-work vacuum hose, and a new bushing clip thing for the TB. I figure worst case, if the new hose can't be made to work, I can at least piece together the end of it into the TB, and go with rubber hose to the booster, and get rid of whatever that goop is that's already there.

Feeling proud of myself for spending money, I went out and gave it a quick wash. It almost made me feel better

Got my ball joint press parts today. No more worrying about damaging new ball joints upon installation... And also easier to remove them...

YAY!

She's back on the streets again. Many thanxs to all members who helped me during the difficult times (when the engine blew up last summer).
And many thanxs to all members who also helped me with all my questions regarding the light modifications she had :-)

O2 sensors. On the advice in the forum threads i purchased a crow foot adapter which turned out to be a necessity. No way i would have been able to get those old sensors out without them. Thanks all!

After destroying both passenger side puddle/courtesy lamps changing to LED, my complete used set from E-Bay arrived. Of course being I only have to replace the lens/covers, the new to me set is already assembled & appears to be baked together. I fear I will destroy these disassembling before I even install.

Any tips to gently removing the lens/cover ?!

I've heard of people "baking" headlight assemblies on other cars to loosen adhesive to pry them apart, but not sure on ours.

My day, while rainy... I finally passed inspection! Only a month late... After temporarily taping my gaping hole in my brake vacuum line, it cleared my 0171/0174 codes (still no power to the brakes but hopefully the new line this week helps). I ran down yesterday after the codes stayed away all day, and completely ignored the fact that the monitors hadn't yet cycled and reset, so no go. Last night on the way home from work, I saw the EGR flip to COMPLETE and first thing this morning, ran down and thank the car gods, I passed. (apparently there's another monitor that isn't set, catalyst or something but we're allowed one)

So now... just have to replace the windshield, fix the brake line, figure out why my low brake fluid light is on, sway bar links, rear shocks, washer tank, Throttle Body, oh, and figure out what on earth is binding in the rear end on Fwd/Reverse motions of the car, because it sounds like the right rear is going to drop out. And then she'll be perfect.

Default 2002 XJ8

Last year I bought a 2002 XJ 8 for myself. The wife has a 2002 xj sport. I really liked the "blacked out look" so I decided to some work on mine.
First thing I did was paint the grille and the rear trunk trim piece. I really like the way it looks. I prefer it over the chrome trim. Then I added a blue tooth receiver so I could listen to my phone through the sound system. Today I installed a more controversial piece. I painted my leaper mat black. I like it. So far among friends and family its about 90% for and 10% against or neutral.

Mine is black too... Though high gloss metallic black with areas of purposeful paint removal so it looks like it has been overpolished
