Default What Holds Down the Spare Tire?

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me what exactly holds the spare down in the 2001 VDP (or similar)? Mine is just loose. Some kind of bracket or pin is obviously missing. And, would you know the name of it?

Thanks a lot!

I believe it is sort of a gold screw with a triangular handle that goes down through one of the lug nut holes. It's pretty long as well.

It's called the "Spare wheel clamp screw" and looks like the attached photo. Mine is slightly different, but similar.

Default Here is the page from Vehicle Care manual

From the description on this page from our XJ8 Vehicle Care manual, I would say it is called a Spare Tire Retaining Screw.
Page section about the hold down of the spare tire states: To remove spare tire, remove the luggage compartment floor panel and unscrew the retaining screw.
Here is a Jpeg file of the page:

I found a spare wheel retaining bolt for xj6 on the UK Ebay website £5.49 .

OK... so here is what I found, which is from an XJ6, but same year as my 2001 VDP:

Does anyone know if this would work for me?

Thank you!

I think it's time you made a list of bits you need and contact one of the vendor/sponsors on here, the one you found might not fit.
