Default Where does these wire lead to?

2000 X308 - In the process of replacing the battery and as I was exploring the battery compartment, I saw these wires/connectors that were connected to nothing. I do have some interior electrical switches that don’t work and wondering if these connectors may have something to do with it. Yes, I see that the ground cable needs to be cleaned…...

What do these connections energize?

The small white wire looks to be added on, not original. The other connector should be for the 'transit relay' that will disable half the car when installed, used only for shipping to the dealer pre PDI or storage. It's supposed to be left open.

The WHITE/BLUE wire is for the battery isolation transit relay.
The car is manufactured for the WORLD and your individual car does not have everything in the world connected to it.
There are a lot of connectors that go to NOTHING fitted to every car.

I just can't help myself - and I would not say anything, if someone from Japan or Africa would write THAT subject line:

>> Where does these wire lead to?

But it very much reminds my of the George W. Bush line: ‘Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?’

😂 Thank you for catching the grammatical error.

I would correct it, but, it’s too much fun to read the responses. Keep up the good works! 😂😂😂

The black 3-way connector is the accessory socket. It's a Faston 250 supplying fused hot, accessory (or ignition, can't remember) switched power, and ground. You may need to populate the relay position in the trunk fusebox for the switched power to work.

I use the trunk accessory connector for my battery maintainer. I use the LH front kick panel one for a dashcam.

It is where a wires would plug into if you had a 12v socket in the boot which was an optional extra back when they were new. There is also one in the glovebox where you could have had a 12v socket or a very rare option of a rechargeable torch mounted in there.

It is very easy to fit sockets in either location if you wanted to.

And here's a link to the original instructions. Don't bother going to look for original OEM install set - a power/USB port from Amazon, a few connectors, some wire and a standard relay do the trick...

JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

I installed these in the boot/trunk:

Got it, Thanks.

Presumably, when one connected a battery tender to that power supply, the electrical cord, which powered the battery tender, would drape over and out of the boot.

Is there not a location/opening, on the exterior underside of the vehicle, where a charging port can be installed so you can fully shut the boot while storing and supplying battery tender power to the vehicle?

My Bentley has one and it’s pretty convenient.

There are grommets in the boot floor for the rear marker lights to drop out of and I think, although I’d have to look to remind myself, there are blanks for the tow bar electrical wiring to go through too. You could use or share one of these for your external charger connection. Failing that you could always drill a hole and add one as it wouldn’t be too difficult.

Off the top of my head the drain tube from the petrol filler area runs behind the carpets in the boot & out the floor. I don't recall it being a tight fit so you could run cables out of that.

The antenna also has a drain, and that side is closer to the battery (and accessory socket).

I didn't know that as I've never had to look into that side of the boot, so cheers.
