Will it work for what?
The phone setup for the X308 was obsolete more than a decade ago.(CDMA or TDMA)
There might be a good-used setup you could buy from someone but I don't know if carriers still support it?

Hi, thanks for the fast reply. Sorry, I didn’t make myself clear at all.
My XJ was never fitted with the Motorola car phone with microphone that is mounted on the overhead console back in 1999 (see picture). However, I’ve just purchased the factory microphone hoping I will still be able to connect my Apple phone via bluetooth. Now that I have the microphone, I should be OK? Or, do I need an aftermarket option or the Motorola jag set up. I’ve seen a few of the kits online for around $500US
I have NO IDEA about add-on communication devices. I just installed the actual Jaguar optional mobile phones at the dealer when the cars were new.
Never tried to integrate something different.

OK, thanks anyway. You will probably know what comes in the kit to install the phones? Does this look like it’s got everything in it? (Minus the handset of course)
Thanks for that, much appreciated. I will come back to you if I get stuck. By the way, if anybody is selling the factory phone kit for the XJ 308, I’m very interested.

what did you end up doing? I’m also looking for a set up like yours. I have the phone. I know k can’t connect but I want the system anyway. You keeping it selling?

G’day, I ended up keeping and installing however, no 2G in Australia at the moment but rumour has it someone is in the process of changing that. I unsure if it’s true or not but the phone looks nice and does actually work.

When new in 02 and 03 I bought a new XJR each year and had the OEM factory phones installed. I loved them. I just bought a 2002 basically brand new XJR with 13k miles with every option except for the phone set up. I love the sound of the unit when you turn on the car, when the phone powers up. I have the updated silver version phone, I just now need the cradle, mic and box in the trunk. Where did you find your kit?
I agree, it’s a nice sound and it just completes the fully optioned feel.
I bought my kit off eBay but it took me about 6 months to find. There are different variations pending what year but I think the 2002 was still the flip phone type rather than the larger non flip handset. Double check your vin for compatibility however, try the below link. I’m not sure exactly what comes in it, looks like no handset according to the picture. Definitely worth reaching out to them to find out what it comes with. Also, I’ve bought off these guys before and offered a lower price which they accepted so don’t pay full tote odds. For the record, I have a brand new microphone still in original Jag packaging I can sell you if needed. It’s in colour oatmeal (unsure of your interior colour). Cheers.

Send me a private message and let’s chat please John. My car is the 13k 2002 XJR show car that I just bought off bring a trailer. Yes, the interior is oatmeal
It appears to me, that there are far more productive ways
to accentuate the timelessness of the X308 than to install
obsolete phone systems. However, I still use Turtle wax
on the Duchess, so maybe I am guilty as well.
I bought the full factory phone set up, including the microphone, antenna, harness, cradle, box, wiring and everything that goes with it. I spent $20 on the phone $90 on the set up, $40 on an nos factory antenna, $20 on a new Motorola T-605 Bluetooth set up and $28 for a used oatmeal colored mic. I didn’t want to cut my cars harness, so I tapped into the secondary harness that came with the phone set up. I wired everything in, as Jim Roal had it online in PDF form and now everything works exactly as it should. When I get in the, the phone in the car beeps, as it powers up, the Bluetooth connects to my iPhone and I tap on my Pandora App and my play list starts. When I am receiving a call, it comes through the all the speakers, just as it did with the factory unit, I say, “Hey Siri”, answer” and I’m connected. If I’m listening to music and I want to make a call, I say, “Hey Siri, call **** ” and it’s that simple. When **** hangs up, the music comes back on from the paused point and all is good in the world. The only thing that shows is the redundanct little 1x3” remote, in the center console but you don’t actually need it, once you phone is paired, you can leave that under the center console, that is if your phone has voice control. I did however wire in my output from my CD player in the trunk because I just don’t use CD’s and longer. Discount Stereo has a harness to retain the CD changer but streaming is just so much easier and sometimes they skip over bumps. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has done this, so forgive me if I over posted on the same subject. The wire for the mic is not supposed to be exposed, for those who have the set up, the wire goes under the microphone, not alone to the side.
2001-2003 X308 (in the U.S) used the new Timeport, which took the place of the StarTac and the Startac took the place of the Princess.
